How It Works
What do I get when I hire my doula?
Eugene, Oregon is a great place for birth and there are some great doulas working in our area! Most doulas in Eugene, Oregon offer similar services, but there are differences in how those services are delivered! The first step to getting a doula is setting up a time to meet face-to-face for a free, one-hour consultation.
When interviewing potential doulas, one of the most important considerations is your own instinct. Are you comfortable with this person? Will you feel comfortable sharing the intimate experience of childbirth with them? You will want to learn about their skills and experience and decide if you share philosophy, core beliefs, trust, and comfort. Be sure to address any of your specific needs or concerns.
After meeting with your Avocado Doula and understand the value they bring to your birth experience, you will choose the package that best suits your needs. Once the contract is signed and the initial payment is received, you will have your doula on board and at your service!

Sometimes the best birth plans are simple, honest, and real.
Because birth doesn’t need to be complicated to be supported. It needs care, advocacy, and a team that truly has your back. We’re here to help you build a birth plan that’s simple, strong, and actually works for you.
Adding a doula to your birth team provides you with someone to help you navigate the unknown, adjust to changing circumstances, and find your way through supported and well cared for. When you know you can’t count on a single well formulated plan, know you can count on your doula!

Our prenatal support gives you the space to explore your birth preferences, talk through your hopes and concerns, and feel more prepared for the experience ahead. We’ll help you create a birth plan that reflects your needs and values, learn about your options, and build confidence as you approach labor and delivery. We also work alongside your OB or midwife as part of your care team, building a foundation of trust and communication.
Most importantly, we take the time to get to know you, your story, and how you want to be supported, so when the big day arrives, you have a familiar, caring presence by your side.
